Is the Shroud of Turin an Image of Jesus?

The Shroud of Turin or Turin Shroud is a length of linen cloth bearing the negative image of a man who is alleged to be Jesus of Nazareth. It is kept in the royal chapel of the Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist in Turin, Piedmont, northern Italy. The cloth itself is believed by some to be the burial shroud that Jesus was wrapped in when he was buried after crucifixion. It is first securely attested in 1390, when a local bishop wrote that the shroud was a forgery and that an unnamed artist had confessed. Radiocarbon dating of a sample of the shroud material is consistent with this date.

The Catholic Church has neither formally endorsed nor rejected the shroud, but in 1958 Pope Pius XII approved of the image in association with the devotion to the Holy Face of Jesus. Pope John Paul II called the Shroud “a mirror of the Gospel”. Other Christian denominations, such as Anglicans and Methodists, have also shown devotion to the Shroud of Turin.

The image of the “Man of the Shroud” has a beard, moustache, and shoulder-length hair parted in the middle. He is muscular and tall (various experts have measured him as from 1.70 to 1.88 m or 5 ft 7 in to 6 ft 2 in). Reddish-brown stains are found on the cloth, showing various wounds that, according to proponents, correlate with the yellowish image, the pathophysiology of crucifixion, and the Biblical description of the death of Jesus.

Christians believe the Shroud to be of Jesus Christ

A women by the name of  Karin Reid commented on Discerning the World yesterday saying:

“I want to tell something awesome I learned about the blood of Christ. We know from the Shroud of Turin that Jesus had the rare “AB” blood. I then went to a blood donor site, and found that people with AB blood are “universal donors”–they can give the gift of life to EVERYONE! Isn’t that a profound discovery???!!!! Hallelujah!”

I objected and said the following:

Exodus 20:3-5 3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me. 4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: 5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;

1) The Shroud of Turin is a fake.
2) It is an ICON of the Roman Catholic church.
3) The Shroud of Turin is an IDOL – We as Christians do not worship IDOLS,

Making the comparison that Jesus Christ blood type was type AB from the Shroud of Turin and AB blood donors are ‘universal donors’ because “they can give life to everyone”, means the jokes on you, because the word Catholic means ‘UNIVERSAL’ therefore, this Graven Image’s blood is type AB and blends well with the Roman Catholic church.

I most certainly AM NOT Catholic, and have you researched the Shroud of Turin??? EXPLAIN how the image was MADE in the NEGATIVE! It’s the image of when Christ was raised from the dead– you HEROD, STILL trying to deny His Resurrection!

Even modern SCIENTISTS do not know how the image was made! What a SINFUL, wicked uinbelieving heart and mind you have! They have ALSO 3-D’d the Shroud; explain THAT! Don’t even RESPOND to me; I am blocking you. You are of your father, the DEVIL.

Let’s go to the Bible and TEST the Shroud of Turin

The Shroud of Turin is another lie of Roman Catholicism. Bible Christians have always known it was a forgery, because God gave the Bible to save them from the fraud and superstition of those who use religion to deceive men and fill their coffers. Shroud believers take a close-up of the face, open the image’s eyes, and create a Jesus consistent with Catholic icons and paintings.  

Bible Proofs that It Is a Lie (that is if you read it) – Jesus of Nazareth was not buried in a single cloth wrapping his body and head. He was buried with a linen cloth wound around his body and a napkin covering his head (John 20:5-7). These were two separate cloths, and the napkin for his head was folded and laid separately after His resurrection. It is impossible to have a single cloth with an imprint of His body and face. The forgers were skilled, but ignorant of the Bible. The Shroud is an obvious lie by this fact in the Scriptures.
