John MacArthur – Take Mark of the Beast and Still be Saved

The fact that John MacArthur teaches that you can take the Mark of the beast during the tribulation and still be saved as biblical truth is because he is a Calvinist.  The doctrine of Calvinism is a false doctrine of epic proportions.  Brannon Howse is an ecumenical ministry who will join hands with any minister they feel fit to join hands with.

How many people will take the Mark of the Beast because of what John MacArthur, Jimmy DeYoung, and Brannon Howse said?

Further proof we in the church living in the days of apostasy don’t have a need for any man teach us. The Holy Spirit is our teacher, not apostate teachers or false teachers.

1 John 2:26-27 – “These things have I written unto you concerning them that seduce you.  27 But the anointing which ye have received of Him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in Him.”

What does the Bible say about taking the Mark of the beast during the Tribulation?

Revelation 13:15-17 – “And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.
16 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:
17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
Revelation 14:9-11 – “And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand,
10 The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of His indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:
11 And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.”
Revelation 19:20 – “And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.”
Revelation 20:4 – “And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.”

  1. Now it’s interesting to note the conundrum that John MacArthur sits in regarding this false teaching he preaches and his doctrine of Calvinism he believes in.

    1) John MacArthur supposedly believes in the rapture.

    2) If he and his followers are elect why is he telling people they can take the mark of the beast and repent afterwards to be saved? The Elect should be going up in the rapture before the tribulation.

Now let us remember how a Calvinist gets ‘saved’ or ‘Elected’.

    A.W Pink declares

“the sinner, of himself, cannot repent and believe.”

    James White declares,

“The Reformed assertion is that man cannot understand and embrace the gospel nor respond in faith and repentance toward Christ without God first freeing him from sin and giving him spiritual life (regeneration).” (White, Potter’s, 101)

    3) If the Elect need to be regenerated by God first (made alive from their total depravity) in order to repent/ believe, why would they choose the mark of the beast – is not the Holy Spirit abiding in them warning them to not make such a foolish decision that will cost them their Electionship? So, John MacArhur must be speaking about reprobates that take the mark of the beast. But according to Calvinism, reprobates are doomed for hell and no decision from this evil little person crying out to God is going to change his position – we need to remember that one can’t change God’s decrees.

    What a confusing, ridiculous doctrine.

This is more of the damnable doctrine of Calvinism. This false and heretical teaching could give a person the idea that they have plenty of time before they “meet their maker.” Same person could say, well for now I will do what I want, when I want and then I’ll take this mark and still go to heaven.

This is more Roman rubbish that will damn even more souls to hell. Satan has no shame and neither do these “men of god.” (little g done on purpose. Their god is NOT our God!)

its so sad to see the way the church is going but i guess we shouldn’t be surprised by the apostasy. john macarthur and paul washer kirk cameron are all teaching a false gospel so subtle that unsuspecting christians are not seeing it. its a works salvation gospel.

    2) He believes that the blood of Jesus Christ is just liquid
    3) He believes in Lordship Salvation.

  8. So Jimmy DeYoung didn’t know where the brothers & sisters who disagreed were coming from. What? Am I missing something? I would have thought they got it from the Bible!
In fact, I’m astonished that Mr DeYoung and Mr MacArthur don’t see it there.
I’m also surprised to hear that a Cavinist believes in the Rapture. The ones I know certainly don’t.

So here’s a warning to the whole world, you take that mark and you are going to receive the wrath of God. Now you can make your choice, you can refuse the mark and get the wrath of the Antichrist, or you can take the mark and get the wrath of God. The wrath of God means torment with fire and brimstone and it says in verse 11, “And the smoke of their torment goes up forever and ever and they have no rest day and night, those who worship the beast and his image and whoever receives the mark of his name.” You take it and you will suffer torment forever. 11. blank William Saunders says:

    John MacArthur has NOT RECANTED.

There is no official recant statement. If John MacArthur did recant, why would he leave the audio & transcript up with no footnote stating he recanted?

GTY has left the audio & transcript up of John MacArthur stating one can still be redeemed AFTER taking the Mark of the Beast.

I know the John MacArthur defenders are using the 1993 message as MacArthur’s recant, but it’s not.

Until John MacArthur officially recants, he hasn’t recanted.

What many don’t know is that there are people who really think both can mutually co-exist and still be correct –

Taking the Mark of the Beast = the wrath of God

Taking the Mark of the Beast = you can still be redeemed

I explain this in this post –

    http://ephesians511blog.blogspot.com/2013/10/mark-of-beast-seductive-american-church.html

Even though the Word of God is very clear in Revelation 14:9-10 where it states “ANY MAN” who receives the Mark, others try to wiggle in a possibility of redemption. It is Jesuit sophistry at it’s finest even though the people that have adopted this doctrine of demons may not be Jesuits.

Sophistry – a subtle, tricky, superficially plausible, but generally fallacious method of reasoning.

I think many of the John MacArthur defenders don’t realize this dual thinking exists.

Sharon I believe you are very very confused about the doctrines of grace. Calvinism does not teach that a person has “plenty of time” before they meet their maker. your comment sounds completely ignorant of calvinism. Of course people could take parts of calvinism and turn it into whatever their sinful nature wants it to be, but that’s not what it teaches. God Bless

Deb I respect your views and comments on many posts ive read on dtw, but I can’t figure out why you have such a huge problem with the doctrines of grace. “a.k.a. calvinism”….. you make “calvinism’ sound like a bad word. does the word “arminianism” sound any more cheerful? I found this piece by Nathan Pitchford to be helpful- “Ever since the Serpent first tempted Eve in the garden by casting doubt on God’s word and his character as he had revealed himself to her, mankind has always been engaged in the idolatrous pursuit of fashioning a god after his own imagination, a god who conforms to his own preconceived ideas about what merits worship and trust. This spirit is alive and well today, and professing Christendom’s conceptions of who God really is are legion. Talk of God’s love as demanding that he never be so wrathful as to send people to hell, his justice as requiring that he give all rebellious sinners an equal opportunity for salvation, his sovereignty as necessarily being limited by man’s free choice, his salvation as an offer which must be ratified and completed by man in his unregenerate nature is rampant. There is no cure for this, but to cast off all our prior ideas of who we think God should be, or what we think he should mean when he speaks of his love, his grace, his justice, and his salvation, and to go to his word for all our answers. God is his own interpreter: and until we are willing to submit our human reason to his voice alone, we stand on the brink of eternal ruin.-

Calvinism is an evil doctrine that ensnares people to hell, created by a murderous evil man John Calvin. The doctrines of Grace trash the gospel message of Salvation; the gospel of Jesus Christ you are saved by Grace, the doctrine of Calvinism you are elect by pride.

  17. Joshua

No Joshua if you read properly, believing that taking the Mark of the Beast gives the idea that a person has plenty of time before they ‘meet their maker’ and this is just another false teaching taught by Calvinists.

I am weary of this out of context attack on MacArthur about the Mark of the Beast. In just this one sermon I was able to find in about 5 minutes on his website, he says,

“So here’s a warning to the whole world, you take that mark and you are going to receive the wrath of God. Now you can make your choice, you can refuse the mark and get the wrath of the Antichrist, or you can take the mark and get the wrath of God. Want the actual audio? https://www.gty.org/resources/sermons/66-48… is the link.

This attack is mostly from the Continuationist segment that holds much resentment from his Strange Fire conferences. Many audio recording are carefully clipped and edited to mislead what he was saying about whether taking the mark is The Unpardonable Sin. That was the context.

Do not bear False Witness. Hmm. That is a famous quote from, let’s see… Oh! the LORD in the Ten Commandments! Do due diligence and you will find several like quotes similar to the above.

  22. I really think you should open your eyes and your ears because at the moment they are contextually closed.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iU3tjRq6tX4

Are all those who heard him say it bearing false witness or are they all deluded and completely witless to understand what he said? You must be kidding.

I doubt whether John MacArthur is saved. Anyone who believes he is saved because he was chosen unto salvation before the foundation of the world and, therefore, saved monergistically (without having to put his faith in Jesus in order to be saved because he does not have a free-will) is completely at odds with what the Bible teaches.

Would you mind pointing out the true context of MacArthur’s statement that one can take the mark of the beast and still be saved?

  23. Dear David Reynolds

Oh yada yada bla bla fish cakes. We are so used to being attacked for this but it’s ok, we are use to it 🙂 The fact is, John MacArthur and his side kick Phil Johnson believe that taking the mark of the beast is a forgivable sin because as they say the only sin in the bible that is unforgivable is the one in Matthew 12:31-32. He says so righty here: https://www.discerningtheworld.com/2013/11/01/grace-to-you-and-john-macarthur-take-mark-of-the-beast-no-recant/

But let’s forget about that for a second, let’s focus on the fact that:
    1) He is a Calvinist who believes he was chosen by God to be Elect before the foundation of the world
    2) He believes Jesus did not die for the whole world.
    3) He believes God chooses people to go to hell.
    4) He believes John Calvin (a murderer) is he alter ego – https://www.discerningtheworld.com/2011/09/09/calvinism-what-would-these-pastors-have-done-if-they-were-there/
    5) He believes the blood of Jesus is just liquid and was not sprinkled on the mercy seat in heaven – https://www.discerningtheworld.com/2013/12/28/john-macarthur-blood-of-jesus-liquid-never-applied-in-heaven/
    6) Here he sides with mormons: https://www.discerningtheworld.com/2013/10/21/john-macarthur-arthur-brooks-roman-catholic-mormonism/

Can you recommend a sound teacher nowadays…im seeing john mac was one but because of your comment im now confused

  25. Your best and most reliable Teacher would be the Holy Spirit. Jesus said:

I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you. (Joh 16:12-14)

What all Christians need to do, is to evaluate everything anyone else says in the light of Scripture. If it does not harmonize with Scripture it must be rejected outright. Therefore, you need to know Scripture.

  26. Dear Aileen hang

Can I tell you a secret 🙂 When I was born again I went from pillar to post looking for sound pastors to teach me and I landed up with John MacArthur who I thought was just great. I bought his commentary bible and started to read it. I would read the chapter and study the verses and then look at his commentary to see if what I read and understood matched with his commentary. After doing this for a while I realised that a lot of his commentary was not right. I sat back and I prayed and I asked Jesus how is it that what I am understanding and what his commentary says is not matching up and then it hit me like a ton of bricks, it was the Holy Spirit who was the one illuminating me to understand the scriptures. It was the most wonderful day of my life – to realise that I had the Holy Spirit abiding in me and He was teaching me.

I hope you come to this understanding too Aileen – you don’t need a pastor to teach you – you need the Holy Spirit. And when you read others writings you TEST what they say according to what the bible says – this is why you need to know what the bible says.

  28. blank Chosen Julia says:

I wrote about this subject on my understanding of NOT taking the mark of the beast; I believe this is truth because of Scriptures provided back up my understanding of accepting the mark of the beast is not only UNFORGIVABLE but IF one has the Holy Spirit within, He will leave them and will NEVER return and the God of Israel is with me in my studies of His word through His Divine Holy Spirit indwelling me..

    Proverbs 28:
To show partiality is not good—
yet for a piece of bread a man may do wrong.

So the way I am understanding this verse in Proverbs 28 in correlation with Revelation stating one should not accept the mark of the beast; (because they will not repent from it); is one should not ‘pretend’ to like/care/follow after a person who has a crust of bread for them if they will ‘worship/like’ them. The Proverbs says a man will do wrong also if he accepts the crust of bread under the guise of liking what the man with the ‘crust of bread’ is offering in order to receive the crust of bread. This to me says: Do not pretend to approve of someone if they have something you want, otherwise you will be in the wrong. This means no acceptance of the mark of the beast to buy a ‘crust of bread’ because it is wrong.
If a Christian has the ‘Divine Holy Spirit’ within them and takes the mark of the beast so they can access ‘a crust of bread’ then they will lose the Holy Spirit in them, (and He will NEVER return) because the Holy Spirit will not dwell in the ‘Temple of Yeshua/God’ which is our body when we are truly born again.

    1 Corinthians 3:16
Don’t you know that you are God’s temple and that the Ruach Elohim dwells among you? If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy him; for God’s temple is holy, and you are that temple.

John MacArthur says one can accept the mark of the beast and still be saved. Even though the Scriptures says otherwise in Revelation 14:9-11:

And another angel, a third one, followed them, saying in a loud voice, “If anyone worships the beast and his image and receives a mark on his forehead or on his hand, he shall also drink the wine of God’s fury, poured full strength into the cup of His wrath. And he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone before the holy angels and before the Lamb. The smoke of their torment goes up forever and ever. Those who worship the beast and its image and those who receive the mark of his name have no rest day or night.”

Yeshua told Nicodemus that if one doesn’t have the Holy Spirit, they cannot enter into the kingdom, nor see God.

    John 3:
Yeshua answered, “Amen, amen I tell you, unless one is born of water and spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. What is born of the flesh is flesh, and what is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not be surprised that I said to you, ‘You all must be born from above.’ The wind blows where it wishes and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.”

And let us remember what emissary Paul said in 1 Corinthians 10; about sharing the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons:
“You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons. You cannot partake of the table of the Lord and the table of demons. Or do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? We are not stronger than He, are we?”

    Hebrews 10:
For if we keep on sinning willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but only a terrifying expectation of judgment and a fury of fire about to devour the enemies of God. Anyone who rejected the Torah of Moses dies without compassion on the word of two or three witnesses. How much more severe do you think the punishment will be for the one who has trampled Ben-Elohim underfoot, and has regarded as unholy the blood of the covenant by which he was made holy, and has insulted the Spirit of grace? For we know the One who said, “Vengeance is Mine; I will repay,” and again, “Adonai will judge His people.” It is a terrifying thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

I praise God for His workmanship in me by washing me in Yeshua’s blood, filling me with the Holy Spirit and using me in all things for His glory and honor! All glory and honor to the God of my heart, soul, strength and salvation; Lord God Adonai – Tzva’ot of Israel.

  29. Dear Chosen Julia

A born again Christian can’t lose their salvation. You confuse OT with NT. In the OT the Holy Spirit did not indwell believers, when a believer sinned, the Holy Spirit could and in many cases did leave the believer until they repented and He would return. This was under law.

In the NT under grace the Holy Spirit comes to dwell in believers and He remains. He keeps the the believer on the narrow path.

Anyone who takes the Mark of the Beast is not saved to start off with, and they will take the mark of the beast out of pure hatred for Jesus Christ and pure love for Satan. The Mark of the Beast is all about pledging ALLEGIANCE to the Antichrist/Satan. It’s all about WORSHIP of the Antichrist.

    Sister Deborah;
I disagree with your answer to whether or not a true believer can accept the mark of the beast. Your answer is the that once we receive the Divine Holy Spirit He will never leave us and in Hebrews 6 and 10 it says He not only will leave us but He will NOT return if we disrespect Him and do harm to ourselves and continue in sin or begin to fall into sin again:
Hebrews 6:For it is impossible for those who once were enlightened—having tasted of the heavenly gift and become partakers of the Ruach ha-Kodesh, and having tasted the good word of God and the powers of the olam ha-ba, and then having fallen away—to renew again to repentance, since they are again crucifying Ben-Elohim for themselves and publicly disgracing Him. For the earth—having soaked up the rain frequently falling on it—brings forth vegetation useful to those for whom it is farmed; and it shares in God’s blessing. But if it produces thorns and thistles, it is worthless and near to being cursed—its end is to be burned over.
Hebrews 10:For if we keep on sinning willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but only a terrifying expectation of judgment and a fury of fire about to devour the enemies of God.

May the Lord God of Israel, Adonai-Tzva’ot open your heart to receive the truth. In Yeshua’s Name, amen.
    I rest my case.
