Angus Buchan says, “Put your Doctrinal Differences Aside!”

Angus Buchan

Angus Buchan – In Dion Forster’s  book,  “An uncommon spiritual path – the quest to find Jesus beyond conventional Christianity” , the editorial review of his book, provides says:

Dion Forster“It would seem that for many Christians, and particularly for persons who have left the Church, conventional Christianity does not provide enough to sustain their spiritual lives. This book charts an uncommon spiritual path by examining the non-dual spirituality of Henri le Saux (Swami Abhishiktananda), a French Benedictine monk in India. His approach is challenging, courageous, and even unsettling in some instances. However, his deep commitment to finding Christ is an inspiration.”- Mobipocket

Interreligious Dialogue – Rethinking Theology – Universalism

“The solution for the crisis of the world must be found in common by all people of goodwill, by all men devoted to truth, in whatever way the truth may have manifested itself in the depth of their hearts. Their dialogue will be a searchlight which will probe the present societies of men, but will first scan the heart of those taking part in it. It will be the test of their allegiance to truth alone in their respective religious or humanist commitments. . .

“The fate of practically all Christian theologies so far has been that, while starting from the Gospel, they have speculated on it at leisure with the help of successive philosophical systems, especially Greek essentialism, down to the present existentialism. They have determined in a rigorous manner the divine plan of salvation and have given ample intellectual foundation to the structures at work in the Church, thus deciding here below all matters concerning the other world.  All went well as long as the human mind accepted, without raising questions, that the others are practically excluded from the economy of salvation-even if in fact these others included the majority of God’s children. Then the realization came slowly that such an attitude is not only inhuman but unchristian, and it became impossible to follow Augustine’s idea of the massa damnata. Theologians then tried to work out a plan of Salvation which would somehow include the others, but without altering the brilliant construction and synthesis they had already made. No accepted theology has yet tackled the problem adequately; dialogue in depth, however, is bound to call for a revision of the system, and it may be anticipated that the shock will be great.” (Read complete article here). (Emphasis added).

The answer to a successful pluralistic spirituality or theology is the contemplative life.

Only a contemplative spirituality can be the proper foundation for a pluralistic theology. As long as God is known only through formulae and meditated upon through a mere operation of the mind, as long also as our love for him is confined to feelings and sentiments, it remains impossible for us to realize the limitations of our own approach to the divine mystery. Only the experience of the divine Presence beyond all concepts and feelings will make it possible for us to accept the mystery of the multiform grace and love of the Lord. God is the Absolute. No one of his manifestations can express him completely: yet God is fully present in such manifestations. At the same time, only such a contemplative attitude removes from dialogue the danger of syncretism. The center of the soul is not the intellect, as a theology too dependent on Plato and Aristotle is inclined to believe. It is the real center-the atman of the Vedantic tradition-that man must discover in himself, beyond all manifestations. From that center only can man transcend himself, his thoughts, his senses, as well as the whole universe, beyond all man-made distinctions. At the level of the soul’s self-consciousness, man recognizes both the presence of God, the Absolute, in each of his manifestations, and the impossibility for any of those manifestations to express the mystery of the Absolute in a fully integral manner. Here is the very foundation for a pluralistic, not syncretistic, theology. And this is in fact what the apophatic tradition always stood for in the Church. (Read here, last paragraph) (Emphasis added).

The ultimate solution is the salvation of the world which will be procured only when people of goodwill come together

The salvation of the world and the overcoming by the Church of its present crisis will depend on all people of goodwill coming together in truth and in the Spirit; all men, that is, who within themselves have heard the voice of the Spirit and have not been afraid to listen to it and to abide by it. (Read here, last paragraph) (Emphasis added).

What do Dion Forster, Graham Power and Angus Buchan have in common?

Angus Buchan

Graham Power

Graham Power, Chairperson of Transformation Africa with whom Rev. Jannie Pelser and many other spiritual leaders  such as Angus Buchan, are in close cahoots, and was one of the major sponsors of the Parliament of the World’s Religions held in Cape Town from 1 to 8 December in 1999.

If ever there was a time when nominal Christians were captivated by the altars of other religions, it was here; when they became “participants to meet their own and other’s traditions at deeper levels” to “encounter others whose practice, work and commitment can enrich their own,” to “inspire individuals, organisations, nations and religions and spiritual communities to offer gifts of service, which will make long-term difference in the world” and last but not least to “explore new modes of creative engagement of each institution with one another and with the critical issues which confront the planetary community.”   (A New Day Dawning, Spiritual Yearnings and Sacred Possibilities”, p. 6).  See here for:  Graham Power & Angus – The Transformation of Africa

They are “unashamedly ethical”  but have no qualms whatsoever to be ashamed of the offensive Gospel of Jesus Christ. While they unashamedly boast in the face of God that they are “unashamedly ethical” (so unashamed, that any religion can pledge to be ethical).  He in utter derision answers them: “all your righteous acts (global ethics, norms and values) are like filthy rags. (Isaiah 64:6).   See here for:  Open Letter to Graham Power regarding the Unashamedly Ethical Campaign

The common denominator between Dion Forster, Graham Power and Angus Buchan, as with all the other transformational facilitators, is ECUMENICISM which is just another word for interreligious dialogue.  How do I know it?

Listen to what oom Angus says in this short video:

That’s what oom Angus thinks but what does God think about people who put His doctrines aside?

Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.  (2 John 1:9)

Today’s transformational Gospel is an ecumenically compromised “Gospel” which is no Gospel at all. Its adherents do not care what you believe as long as you endorse their code of global ethics. How else are they going to tolerate men like Dion Forster who unashamedly endorses someone like Henri le Saux who was a Hindu disguised as a Christian?   How else are they going to tolerate clergy from the Roman Catholic fold whom they invited to attend the Cape Town for Jesus rally and who deny the efficacy of Jesus Christ’s death on the cross by claiming that good works, suffering, the mass, indulgences, purgatory, the Blessed Virgin Mary etc. etc. are all part and parcel of the final procurement of one’s salvation?  Roman Catholicism adamantly denies that Jesus Christ’s vicarious death on the cross was all sufficient for our salvation. In fact, they have anathematized every single person who believe that faith and faith alone in the finished work of Christ on the cross saves lost sinners.

Was this perhaps the reason why Angus Buchan spoke in an ethically transformational mode in stead of preaching the cross of Jesus Christ as Paul did so eloquently because he did not want to offend the Catholics in his audience? (1 Corinthians 2:2).  In a report on the Cape Town for Jesus Day Dion Forster said that Angus Buchan:

encouraged South Africans to start taking responsibility for the nation, and to start making a really positive contribution towards transformation and renewal in society (which includes elements such as racial reconciliation, shifting the wealth of the nation, and of course also standing against crime and corruption). The second part of his message, says Forster, “encouraged men to live responsibility in their family lives and work lives.”   (Emphasis added) – See article  for:  What did YOU think Revival meant?

See here for:

Why is it necessary for Angus Buchan to repeat the very same message over and over again at his appearances when South Africa is already in a revival as he claims? Surely if we were already smack bang in the middle of a mighty revival the men would already have been living responsibly in their homes, the wives would already have been living in submission to their husbands for the sake of Jesus Christ, the children would already have been obedient to their parents in all things, they all would already have taken responsibility for the nation by preaching the unadulterated Gospel of Jesus Christ to the lost and last but not least, Graham Power would already have repented in sack and cloth and begged God’s forgiveness for his participation in the Parliament of the World’s Religions held in Cape Town from 1 to 8 December in 1999 and Dion Forster would already have stopped singing the praises of the likes of Henri le Saux and Bede Griffiths.  The fact that these things have not happened as of yet and Angus Buchan repeatedly finds it necessary to remind South Africans of their responsibilities is ample proof that we are nowhere near a revival. Yes! a false one, perhaps but not a Holy Spirit and biblically inspired revival.

South Africa, how much longer are you going to tolerate false teachers and apostles who teach you to limp between two opinions?  If the Lord is God, follow Him. But if their ecumenical Baal is, then follow him.

Very interesting. But I’d rather believe what Jesus says. And He says that MANY will come in HIS Name–not in the name of Buddha, Mohammad or Krishna or anyone else–and Jesus warns us that they will deceive MANY [Matt 24:5].
It’s often thought that Scripture says these people themselves are claiming to be Christ. It doesn’t. The original Greek says, “saying I am anointed”. Benny Hinn, Joyce Meyer, Rick Joyner and a whole host of other “Christian” charlatans claim this for themselves.
To Angus Buchan, and any other ecumenist, I would say that I’d prefer to be divided by truth than united in error. That’s because, as Jesus Himself tells us, when the blind follow the blind they both fall into the ditch [Matt 15:14].
Most of these ecumenists hold to Replacement “Theology” (heresy) and point blank refuse to condemn psychopathic Arab terror against Israel and condemn Israel for trying to defend herself it. They also accept the unbiblical term “Palestine” though only Jews ever called themselves “Palestinians”. No Arab did till 1968 as the Arabs sent a delegation to the UN in the 1950s claiming the term Palestine was a Zionist myth.
What does Angus Buchan say to the ecumenical clique about that? Will he quote to them that ALL liars are going into the lake of fire [Rev 21:8]. Judging by his own statements above, he is never going to do that. He is quite happy to be united with ecumenists in error. That’s hardly surprising considering he preaches so much of it himself.

Put your differences aside and pick a jesus?

Mat 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

Why do churches split? – it is because of error in interpretation and not because of truth – Somebody is wrong!

1500 varieties of Christians just in USA alone. 1499 is wrong and 1499 wrongs does not make a right.
    Religious tolerance is wrong
    Get it Angus?

    Who wants unity without truth?

    Only those who hate truth.

  4. blank Michael says:

First of all I will prove that Angus is not a man of integrity…basic truths that can be proved…first of all in “Faith like Potatoes” he states that Andrew and Lindi were born in Zambia. Andrew and Lindi were definitely not born there and that Jill had a husband before she met Angus. What else Angus says therefore has no CREDIBILITY and how can you preach to others when you live a lie. We all make mistakes in life and none are perfect but to live a lie in the representation of God’s word is damage… to ones trust and faith. That’s why I discount these preachers…Benny Hinn, Joyce Meyer…there is proven lies in their testimony and a whole host of others…Jesus said He is the WAY and the TRUTH…the TRUTH will set you free.
Bulldust does relate to the integrity of SALVATION. Lies and misrepresentation in a message completely takes the Holy Spirit’s conviction out of the equation. God is holy, pure and righteous and does not work with deception and untruths.

[rey – sorry dude I am deleting your comments because 1) you are against born again Christians 2) your language leaves little to be desired 3) You are for the world and not against it. 4) Not sure what strange doctrine you believe in]

Don’t think this is necessarily the right thread to post this. Just seen another men’s only affair : “Hillsong Church Cape Town – Men’s Conference 2012 is just 2 days away! You can’t afford to miss it. Sign up at mensconference.co.za. R170 till 1 Nov. R195 at the door.”

Interestingly the event is advertised with a poster of Nelson Mandela and these words: “There can be no keener revelation of a society’s soul than the way in which it treats it’s children. Nelson Mandela. Mens 2012 Conference. What will you be remembered for?” end quote

South Africa does not treat it’s children too well – particularly since 1994. I will remember Nelson Mandela for the Church Street bombing (yes – many other people who were adults then will remember too). Furthermore – I will sadly remember that Hillsong is now amongst the ranks of “Promise Keepers” and “Mighty Men”. Perhaps they always were 🙁

  7. blank Michael says:

    John 7:16-18
    New King James Version (NKJV)

16 “Jesus[a] answered them and said, “My doctrine is not Mine, but His who sent Me. 17 If anyone wills to do His will, he shall know concerning the doctrine, whether it is from God or whether I speak on My own authority. 18 He who speaks from himself seeks his own glory; but He who seeks the glory of the One who sent Him is true, and no unrighteousness is in Him”.

Where do you find God’s will and His message to a lost world. The desire to know God as He truly is can only come from the Holy Spirit and it can only come on His terms. His terms is documented in the completed scriptures…no other means. Experiences, happenings, flashes of lightening, clouds ,signs and sensational things are not how to get saved.
Paul’s Damascus road experience, along with many biblical recorded one’s were done in the process of recording and the making of the completed word of God (the bible). Once the completed Word was given any diversions, additions and substractions are the works of the devil and his demons.

Why are there are some many doctrines and disagreements?

I believe it’s because man’s heart is devious, vain and self-seeking. The Holy Spirit convicts man of sin…the answer to this condition is found and explained in the scriptures…the solution of the gospels is clearly given.

There is only one way to salvation, Christ… there is only one truth, Christ …there is only one life in opposed to death and it is Christ…in essence there is only one doctrine (a book and directive given by God to tell us why He sent His Son) the bible.

Different versions but the same way and the same meaning.

All false religions generate when we are not honoring the scriptures as the only Holy word given by God

Man’s vainity, sensual and self-seeking sinful nature leads to deviation and false doctrines…Mormons, RC’s, 7th Day eventists, Word of Faith, Prosperity teaches and preachers, JW’s and many others…and false religions such as Islam, Hindus and Budists and a many others.

It is relevant that all falseness in teaching came from experiences, dreams and visions…Mormons, JW…I’m not sure but Mohammed as well.

There is only one fundemental doctrine of SALVATION and it WRITTEN IN THE GOSPELS…

  8. blank thor forseth says:

Sowing seeds of division in the body of Christ is serious business, and there are going to be a lot of ministry leaders who when they give an account before Christ, will rue the day they discovered social media, which gave them their unearned platforms from which to amplify and spread this division. Heresy hunters have brought more shame and dishonor on the body of Christ than many of the “heresies” they claim to have unearthed and addressed. Best you stick to the simple and pure Gospel of Christ that even His babes can agree on, and let Christ deal with the rest. Remember, it’s His church and His right.

  9. thor forseth

Did you know that Jesus is the most important person who amplifies and spreads division?

Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. (Matthew 10:34)
